My first contact with DMV was in 1997 during my studies in engineering: I was asked by my university to conduct research on cold steel forming technologies. DMV gave me the chance to actually see the processes I had only studied in pure theory, and to meet motivated people who are committed to constantly improving the company knowledge base and their production processes.
After completing my degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1998 I was offered a position at DMV. I accepted right away, because I had the feeling I had found a dynamic environment and a great opportunity for gaining a wide range of experiences and a chance to develop my skills in an international environment.
After eight years of working at DMV I can say it was worth it! I initially worked in production, fine-tuning the processes of new equipment. Promoted to project manager, I then worked on strategic orders for oil offshore applications, where the most precise quality and on-time fulfilment are a must. As the coordinating contact point between the plant and a group of site inspectors, I had the opportunity to learn not only about the production processes, but also about topics pertaining to quality, customer needs, and the entire company organisation.
In 2001 I took over the position of Supply Chain Manager, which meant assuming a great deal more responsibility. This is a very rewarding job, as it entails: - working together with a team of very active, open-minded, and people-oriented colleagues, - tackling “front line” problems, which often require making quick decisions, - the opportunity to regularly carry out new projects that focus on day-to-day improvements in efficient international logistics and production planning. Visiting our plants throughout Europe where I meet colleagues who work in the same fields creates a stimulating working atmosphere, both from the personal and technical points of view.
Now in 2006, a few years down the road, it feels good to look back on the progress I have made, to see how many different projects have been successfully completed and how many ideas have been put into practice. Looking forward, a lot more ideas and projects are on the agenda, ready to be explored and implemented.
All of this has only been possible thanks to the fact that DMV offers room for new ideas to freely grow, and turns the good ones into projects that ultimately become reality. When you deal with people and you have to tackle challenges, life isn't as easy as it looks, but if you manage to get through the rough spots and trust in your team, you can achieve all the goals you set for yourself.
All of this works because here at DMV the general approach is open and dynamic, new ideas and projects are promoted and can be rapidly implemented, and there is no distance from the top level down.
